Fire broke out this afternoon on the top floor
of a high-rise building in south Mumbai's posh Prabhadevi area, where actor
Deepika Padukone lives.

Reports suggest no one has been injured. More than 90
residents of the building have been evacuated safely, said police sources.
Ms Padukone, who has her residence in one floor
of the 34-storey Beaumonde Towers, and her office in another, was not in when
the fire started, reported news agency Press Trust of India quoting sources.
Her home and office both are safe.

Reports suggest the blaze started around 2 pm
on the 33rd floor of the building. Eyewitnesses said the top two floors are
badly affected. It is not known yet what caused the fire.
Mumbai Police said its staff and fire
department officials are at the spot. "They are trying to do their best to
douse the fire," Mumbai Police tweeted. At least 10 fire engines, two
quick response vans and five water tankers have been pressed into service to
douse the fire.
This is the third major fire incident in Mumbai
this month.
Earlier this month, fire broke out at the
Income Tax office in South Mumbai. It started on the third floor of the I-T
office, located in the multi-storeyed Scindia House.No casualties were
reported.
On June 9, a massive fire broke out inside
Patel Chambers in Mumbai's Fort area. Two firefighters were injured after part
of the building collapsed due to fire.
In October last year, a massive fire broke out
at Le Mer building in Bandra, where a number of celebrities stay, including the
mother of actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
